Key points to remember
- Stripe fees are charged for each successful payment. If an order is cancelled after payment and you refund the customer, the Stripe fees from the initial payment are not refunded to you.
- You can issue a full or partial refund. You can also issue several refunds for the same order, up to the total amount paid. Stripe does not charge any additional fees for refunds.
- In the event of a card dispute, for example if the customer disputes the payment with their bank, Stripe charges dispute fees, the amount of which depends on the currency of your account. In euros, these fees are €20.00 per dispute received. These initial dispute fees are not refunded. If you decide to challenge the dispute by manually submitting evidence, Stripe charges €20.00 in additional fees. These additional fees are refunded only if you win the dispute.
Payment by card
For standard cards from the European Economic Area, Stripe fees are:
1.5% + €0.25 per successful payment
Higher fees may apply for premium cards, UK cards, international cards or in the event of currency conversion.
Examples of Stripe fees for a standard EEA card payment:
- €3.00 => €0.30 in Stripe fees
- €30.00 => €0.70 in Stripe fees
- €100.00 => €1.75 in Stripe fees
- €300.00 => €4.75 in Stripe fees
- €1,000.00 => €15.25 in Stripe fees
Payment by SEPA bank transfer
SEPA bank transfer is more cost-effective: 0.5% per successful payment, with no fixed fee, capped at €5.00 in fees per payment. Learn more about payment by bank transfer.
